The Sonobond Brand
Innovation, performance, and service make Sonobond the smart choice for ultrasonic welders. In 1960, Sonobond (then known as Aeroprojects) received the first patent for ultrasonic metal welding. Since then, the company has received more than 150 additional patents. These include not only metal welders, but custom-engineered ultrasonic bonders of all types. Today Sonobond produces equipment for: Metal welding, Textile bonding, Plastic bonding, Nonwoven bonding, Filter assembly, Photovoltaic cell assembly, Body Armor assembly, and Battery assembly.

Weld Protocols Stored in SonoWeld®Nonwoven and Textile Bonders
Sonobond’s ultrasonic sewing machines bond fabrics that are synthetic, blends containing up to 40% natural materials, and nonwovens. They create ultrasonic fabric bonds that are strong, regulatory-compliant, and fully sealed.
The first SeamMaster® Ultrasonic Sewing Machine was introduced in October 1991 to meet demands for safer medical garments and disposable items. It has since been awarded trademark registration for its use of high-frequency vibratory waves that produce secure barrier seams and bonded edges without stitch holes, glue gaps, fraying or unraveling.
Applications include: General purpose sewing, Lacing and quilting, Filters, Medical disposables, Cuffs and sleeves, Ribbons and trims, Ballistic vests and body armor.
Metal Welders
Sonobond ultrasonic metal welders create strong, precise, solid-state metallurgical bonds without heat, current, or consumables. They are used to weld stranded wire-to-wire and wire-to-terminal for applications such as electrical wire harnesses and bus bars. They are used to weld the terminals of lithium-ion batteries, foil-wound capacitors, thin aluminum or copper foil, and electrical contacts. They play an important part in the manufacture of fuses/circuit breakers, ignition modules, starter motors, and photovoltaic panels. Sonobond’s ultrasonic metal welders are also frequently used to close HVAC tubing, replacing crimp and solder methods.
