Sonobond Ultrasonics
Sonobond Ultrasonics
Sonobond Ultrasonics, Inc. is a leading provider of ultrasonic metal welding and textile bonding equipment for industries around the world.
In 1960, the company—then known as Aeroprojects—received the first patent ever awarded for ultrasonic metal welding. During the intervening years, Sonobond has earned an outstanding reputation for its pioneering work and quality engineered products. Today we manufacture a complete line of bonding and welding equipment for companies in the metals, plastics, and nonwovens/textiles industries. These include units for applications in aerospace, apparel, appliance, automotive, battery, body armor, electrical, electronic, environmental, filtration, HVAC, photovoltaic, and medical fields.
No adhesives, solder, thread, or other consumables are used. Instead, the process features a specially-designed head that channels high-frequency vibrations to create a rapid, localized buildup of heat in non-ferrous metals, rigid plastics, or synthetic fabrics. The resulting heat is then used to weld, bond, cut, or slit these materials without heating the surrounding area. The process is energy-efficient, ultra-reliable and produces consistent quality results.
Sonobond Ultrasonics equipment is available in both stand-alone and modular form. The modular units are designed for convenient integration into a production line or custom machinery. All models are easy to operate and require only minimal training.

about sonobond
Innovation, performance, and service make Sonobond the smart choice for ultrasonic welders. In 1960, Sonobond (then known as Aeroprojects) received the first patent for ultrasonic metal welding. Since then, the company has received more than 150 additional patents. These include not only metal welders, but custom-engineered ultrasonic bonders of all types. Today Sonobond produces equipment for:
Our Equipment
Sonobond’s ultrasonic sewing machines bond fabrics that are synthetic, blends containing up to 40% natural materials, and nonwovens. They create ultrasonic fabric bonds that are strong, regulatory-compliant, and fully sealed. Applications include:
- General purpose sewing
- Lacing and quilting
- Filters
- Medical disposables
- Cuffs and sleeves
- Ribbons and trims
- Ballistic vests and body armor
- And much more
The first SeamMaster® Ultrasonic Sewing Machine was introduced in October 1991 to meet demands for safer medical garments and disposable items. It has since been awarded trademark registration for its use of high-frequency vibratory waves that produce secure barrier seams and bonded edges without stitch holes, glue gaps, fraying or unraveling.
Applications
Sonobond’s ultrasonic machinery is used by companies around the world. Its state-of-the-art product line includes the following:
- The SonoWeld® 1600 microprocessor-controlled welder for aluminum welding, welding tin-coated wires, and battery assembly.
- The SpliceRite™ Wire Splicer for fast, efficient wire harness assembly.
- The powerful WeldMaster™ for superior spot welding.
- SeamMaster™ High Profile, PlungeBonder™, and RingMaster™ bonders for superior filter assembly.
- The SeamMaster™ line for bonding synthetics and nonwovens — a process that cuts, “sews,” and seals in just one pass.
- The SureWeld™ line for ultrasonic plastic bonding — including an optional microprocessor-controlled power supply that can be attached or mounted separately.
- The Photovoltaic (PV) Modular System for solar panel assembly.
- Plus a large selection of other ultrasonic bonding equipment.
You can purchase, rent, or lease Sonobond ultrasonic welders and bonders as stand-alone units or as modular systems for integration into your production line or custom equipment.
Sonobond ultrasonic equipment is used by leading manufacturers in the automotive, appliance, filtration, HVAC, apparel, aerospace, medical, electronic, electrical, photovoltaics, battery, and ballistic vests/body armor fields.
