The past month at Consarc Corporation has been filled with construction, demolition, and more winter weather. After more delays due to snow, our contractors have made a great deal of progress.

The most notable change occurred at the start of the month when demolition began on our material storage and water jet building. After clearing out the interior of the building, an excavator with a hydraulic grapple attachment was brought in and started tearing away the walls and structure of the warehouse. It only took about 2 days for the crew to demolish, sort, and remove the debris. Once the building was down, a hydraulic breaker attachment on the excavator started breaking the concrete foundation apart until the debris was removed as well.

Progress has been made in the pit as well. Careful attention was paid to humidity and weather conditions, and a window of time was found to pour the concrete foundation of the pit. Once the concrete was cured, the crew started placing metal rebar to frame out and pour the side walls.

Since 1962, Consarc has proudly operated out of Rancocas, New Jersey. The additional manufacturing space resulting from this expansion project will have a tremendous impact, not only on our capacity and lead time, but also on our ability to support our nation’s efforts to domesticate the production of neodymium magnets. Our VIM-SC strip casting furnaces play a crucial role in the production of rare-earth magnetic material, and fill a gap in the domestic supply chain in the U.S.
What's Next?
Two factors impact the next phase of construction: progress on the pit walls and removal of any remaining debris from the demolition. Once these items are complete, the area can be leveled and prepared to lay the foundation of the warehouse expansion. Despite several snowstorms, harsh wind and cold weather, the project continues onward without delay!
