March Recap
March Recap Video
Spring has sprung, and construction “Marches on” in March! After what has felt like an eternal winter, spring has finally come into view. It has been great to be able to get outside and see the amount of work being done without needing to “layer up” beforehand.
Work in the month of March has mainly concerned the pit. More work was done on the foundation, followed by the placement of the forms for the walls of the pit. Concrete will be poured into the forms once the final foundation items are complete. Fabrication has started on footers and piers, in preparation for the walls and roof supports that will be stood up in the near future.
In our current production area, there are two pits which are used to assemble and test various pieces of furnace equipment that sit below the normal operating level. The new pit will be both larger and deeper than either of our current pits, which offers the opportunity to handle larger-scale projects and increased capacity for jobs across the entire assembly area.
Warmer weather brings more than just comfort from the cold of winter - it also brings opportunity to make great strides in construction. Even though the snow, ice, and cold temperatures caused several delays, the project continues undeterred, and we’re set up for an efficient springtime push.
What's Next?
Work on ground leveling and foundation preparation should be complete by the end of April. Columns can be set in place to support the external structure. In recent days the steelwork for our expansion has been delivered, which reminds us of how close we are getting to stand up the first elements of the new building.
Check back each month to see how construction is progressing!
