High Speed Flying Shears

Alpha® High-Speed Flying Shears are the fastest, most reliable and most accurate tube cut-off systems in the world. They cut tubes and profiles directly on the mill at 15–200 m/min, with ±1 mm cut-off accuracy and dimple-free, minimal-burr ends. Four standard models handle diameters from 9 mm to 127 mm and wall thicknesses from 0.7 mm to 6.4 mm.

Overview

Cut to Length Directly on the Mill

Alpha® shears use a double-cut die set that shears tube without distortion, so producers can cut dimple-free, market-ready product straight off the mill. Cutting to length on the mill removes downstream manufacturing steps and saves floor space and handling.

Six Decades of Alpha® Tube Cutting

For more than 60 years, the Alpha® name has stood for high-performance tube cutting, and more ready-to-ship tube has been cut with Alpha® double-cut technology than with any competing method. Ongoing research has produced shears with faster line speeds, tighter tolerances, improved reliability and longer tooling life. Today’s models also add smaller footprints, automatic lubrication and quick-change tooling.

Tooling

Alpha® blades and jaws are precision tools for a precision dieset. Using genuine Alpha® Tooling ensures correct operation and long dieset life.

Blades
Both horizontal and vertical blades can be supplied. Blade profiles are generated using computer-aided design to achieve the optimum blade geometry for the application in question. ATS2 material offers increased blade life, especially with stainless and high tensile steels.

Jaws
Available for the complete diameter range and equivalent profiles, Alpha® jaw sets are manufactured from high strength steel and undergo a complex heat treatment process to ensure high wear resistance. Alpha® jaw sets are precision tools engineered for long life and durability
