Simultaneously & Instantaneously Vary Frequency and Power Output

Independent Frequency & Power Technology by Inductoheat (IFP™) is a revolutionary leap forward in power inverter design. In the past, physical changes to capacitance and transformer ratios were required to change the frequency of an inverter resulting in lost production time and multiple operations. These physical changes require the unit to be powered down, locked out/tagged out and adjusted by a technician or electrical specialists.  The patented design of the Inductoheat IFP™ allows the frequency to be changed inside of the PLC (programmable logic controller) instantaneously during the heat cycle and programmed as part of the machine recipe from a range of 1 – 200 kKz.

What is Depth of Penetration in Induction?

Changing frequency during the induction heating cycle allows for precise control of the penetration depth, or electrical reference depth, of the induced current into the desired sub-surface area. During induction hardening, this variable frequency approach will result in different case depth when scanning at the same speed.

Conventional power supplies do not allow the user to programmatically control these changes in depth penetration and forces the use of time & power combined with conduction in an attempt to meet desired specifications. Unfortunately, this approach is not a precise operation and can produce unintended consequences, make changeovers necessary, and can add to the overall production time of a project.

Using IFP™ Technology, workpieces of varying geometries, thicknesses, materials and required case depths can be processed more efficiently and effectively in a single operation.
